Ski Fields

Mt Lyford Ski fieldmore

Offers great packages for those travelling to Kaikoura in a car. The skiing or boarding is much more affordable and more friendly than big commercial fields. Mt Lyford takes about 3 hours to reach from Picton. The shuttle goes from Kaikoura to Mt Lyford daily. Accommodation can be found in Kaikoura or else stay at the lodge at the bottom of the mountain.

For those travelling to Nelson. Rainbow Ski field takes about 1 1/2 hours to reach from Picton. No public transport leaves from Picton or Blenheim but does leave daily from Nelson.
